Abstract

Introduction: The eyebrows as an aesthetic unit, determine harmony and beauty that is lost during aging due to their decrease. Among the non-endoscopic surgical techniques to lift the eyebrows, brow lifting by reduced temporal incision is described.

Objective: To determine the post-surgical changes that occur in the tail of the eyebrows with the subperiosteal brow lifting technique, by reduced temporal incision and fixation to the deep temporal aponeurosis.

Methods: A descriptive, prospective, longitudinal study was carried out in the Plastic Surgery and Caumatology Service of the "Hermanos Ameijeiras" Clinical Surgical Hospital, during the period from September 2018 to March 2022. Post-surgical changes in the position of the the tail of the eyebrows, by physical examination and photographic study, with pre- and postoperative angular measurement, of an angle formed by the intercantal palpebral line and a line from the internal palpebral canthus to the tail of the eyebrows.

Results: Adequate post-surgical position of the eyebrows in most cases in relation to the orbital rim. Statistically significant opening of the angle studied between the pre and postoperative period: from an average preoperative right angle of 12.5° and left of 13.2°, an average postoperative right angle of 17.1° and left of 17.8°was obtained. Most of the patients had no complications and were satisfied with the procedure.

Conclusions: The tail of the eyebrows had a post-surgical lift in relation to the orbital rim and according to the angle opening studied.
