Abstract

A case of a 22-year-old female patient was reported, with a health history who suffered an accident with industrial rotating machinery in which her hair was trapped, producing total avulsion of the scalp, a full-thickness scalp graft was performed at its place of origin. In order to protect the periosteum and achieve granulation tissue, adjuvant treatment is also started with hyperbaric chamber sessions and local cures. Survival of most of the thickness of the scalp is achieved after necrosis of the skin and its adnexa. Final reconstruction is performed with partial thickness autologous skin grafts, achieving full recovery in 90 days. We present the case as a treatment alternative for low- and middle-income countries where microsurgical techniques are not available or in patients with extensive scalp damage where these techniques are not possible.
